I've just installed Responsive Scrolling Tables and enabled it but it is not working. Clicking on the Insert Table button in the Article editor brings up the table window as before but no values can be entered and no table is inserted. This worked fine before installing RST.

Looking at the Plug-in manager I see that against Ordering there is this message: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in D:\LocalWeb\<site name>libraries\joomla\database\driver.php on line 1413 New items default to the last position. The ordering can be changed after this item is saved. (I've removed the site name)

I'm using a One Cause template by Webunderdog with Joomla 3.2.4

When/if I get RST to work does it work with existing tables or just new ones created after RST is installed?

Hi Martine,

Responsive Scrolling Tables, does not alter the editors or edit screens in Joomla. Instead it adds a JavaScript file to each page that looks for tables after the page has loaded, this means that any existing tables as well as all new ones will work.

Can you confirm a few points for me so I can provide further assistance:

  1. Does the problem disappear if you disable the RST plugin?
  2. Are you editing the content in the front end or through /administator (back end)?
  3. Are you using the default Joomla editor? (if not please advise us on which editor you are using)

The ordering of plugins is handled by Joomla and therefore we are unable to comment on the following error due to it being outside of our control: "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in D:\LocalWeb\<site name>libraries\joomla\database\driver.php on line 1413".

OK I think I've tracked down the problem.
The warning message I quoted is nothing to do with it as I have since noticed the same message is displayed for several other plug-ins that I've checked and they all seem to be working OK.

The problem I am experiencing with RST is with nested tables. If I insert a table in an article without any other outer tables, then the editor does work with RST enabled. However even when I don't get the problem with the editor in this circumstance it is not doing what I was hoping it would do. Yes a horizontal scroll bar does appear if a cell's content is wider than the display device window, but if the whole table is wider but individual columns are less than the screen width, then the cells in columns that would otherwise be off-screen get moved down to the next row (as normally happens). At least this seems to be what is happening for me. I really wanted the rows to remain in single rows and not flow and upset the layout of the table.

In answer to your queries the problem with nested tables does disappear when I disable the RST plug-in and I'm editing articles in the back end using the TinyMCE editor.

Hi Martine,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

We are currently running some tests to try and replicate the problem.

Can you just confirm which version of Joomla you are using?

We have assume 2.5 until now and just want to confirm.

Hope to have a solution to the issue soon.

Kind regards,
Jacob Dixon

Hi Jake,

I'm using Joomla 3.1.1. Not to worry now because I've found an alternative solution to the problem and I've moved onto other things. But if you can replicate the problem and sort it out it might be useful for a future occasion when I might wish to have a scrolling table.

Thanks for looking into this.
